Why choose SSB 4X4 Extreme?

  • Purpose-built starting power. A 890 CCA rating for compatible engines, with plates designed to handle high starting current.
  • A stronger grid foundation. Die-cast grids form a sturdy frame around the plate material, supporting conductivity and durability.
  • No water top-ups. Maintenance-free flooded lead-acid construction keeps routine battery upkeep simple.

Over 30 years of SSB battery experience

An established Australian battery brand behind your next start. Super Start Batteries began supplying Australia in the early 1990s and remains 100% Australian owned and operated, with national distribution.

Developed and tested in Australia, the 4X4 Extreme range is manufactured to ISO 9001 quality standards. Pair its starting performance with Suncoast Batteries' local advice. Discover SSB's story.

Is this the right battery for you?

Choose it for engine starting in a compatible 12V 4WD or vehicle. Check its minimum CCA/Ah requirements, size, terminals and hold-down. This is a starting battery, not a deep-cycle camping battery. For a fridge, auxiliary power system or a vehicle requiring stop-start EFB/AGM technology, ask us to match the correct battery.

Sunshine Coast delivery & fitting help

$9.95 local delivery across the Sunshine Coast, QLD. Installation available by quote.

Suncoast Batteries builds on the local Super Start Batteries business, serving the Sunshine Coast since 1994 with quality batteries.

Will this battery fit my 4WD?

Match the 260 × 172 × 200mm case and 221mm total height, standard SAE terminals, assembly 0 layout and hold-down to your vehicle. Check bonnet clearance and the actual positive/negative positions; a similar battery code alone is not enough.

What about another brand's battery code? Compare the full specifications, not just the suffix. Your vehicle's year, engine and electrical system determine the correct battery. This 4X4 Extreme model is a conventional starting battery, not an EFB/AGM stop-start or deep-cycle replacement.

View the SSB vehicle fitment guide (PDF). The guide is a reference; confirm your exact vehicle requirements.

Ordering, delivery & fitting

This product is the SS70LX SSB 4X4 Extreme battery. Select the quantity you need above. Installation is quoted separately and is not included in the battery price.

Options for delivery outside the Sunshine Coast, urgent replacement or old-battery disposal must be confirmed before ordering. Need help with a return or refund? Call us on 0484 851 167 to discuss your options.

Battery care & safe installation

Maintenance-free means no water top-ups. Follow the battery label and your vehicle's instructions for safe handling, charging and installation. Keep the battery secure and terminals in good condition, and use a charger suitable for this 12V flooded lead-acid battery.

Some vehicles require memory preservation or other specific replacement procedures. If you are unsure, ask about professional fitting. Keep batteries upright, work in a well-ventilated area away from sparks, and use an appropriate battery recycling service for the old unit.

Manufacturer warranty & support

SSB's warranty guide lists these replacement warranty periods for its 4WD & Truck range:

  • Private starting use: 36 months.
  • Commercial starting use: 12 months.
  • Taxi use: 6 months.

SSB provides an equivalent replacement for qualifying manufacturing faults within the applicable period, after assessment and with proof of purchase. Manufacturer cover is for the original end user; transport to and from SSB testing centres is at the customer's cost. Replacement does not restart the original warranty.

Deep-cycle, stop-start, marine and standby use are not covered under this range’s manufacturer warranty. Exclusions include incorrect application, flat batteries, normal wear, physical damage and incorrect charging. Your Australian Consumer Law rights apply in addition to the manufacturer warranty and are not limited by these terms.
