Why choose SSB Gold?

  • Power for everyday starts. 490 CCA gives you a clear starting-performance rating to match against your vehicle's requirements.
  • Less routine maintenance. The sealed calcium-calcium design means no water top-ups, so there is one less upkeep task.
  • A premium build where it counts. SSB Gold combines die-cast grids with a long-life design for Australian conditions. Get the right specification and local support, not just a battery code.

Over 30 years of SSB battery experience

An established Australian battery brand behind your next start. Super Start Batteries began supplying Australia in the early 1990s and remains 100% Australian owned and operated, with national distribution.

Choose SSB Gold's purpose-built starting performance, with Suncoast Batteries here to help you select the right fit and arrange local service. Discover SSB's story.

Confirm the right battery for your vehicle

Match the battery technology, case dimensions, terminal polarity, hold-down and starting requirements. An AGM or EFB stop-start vehicle requires a suitable stop-start replacement, not just a similar-looking case.

Use our Battery Finder or match your existing battery code.

Sunshine Coast delivery & fitting help

$9.95 local delivery across the Sunshine Coast, QLD. Installation available by quote.

Suncoast Batteries builds on the local Super Start Batteries business, serving the Sunshine Coast since 1994 with quality batteries.

Get help choosing your battery and arranging replacement with Suncoast Batteries' mobile delivery and fitting service. We service the Sunshine Coast, with 24/7 mobile assistance subject to availability.

Will the SS36 fit my vehicle?

Match the 206 × 174 × 173mm case and 173mm total height, Standard SAE (STD) terminals, assembly 0 layout and hold-down to your vehicle. Check bonnet clearance and the actual positive/negative positions; a similar battery code alone is not enough.

Replacing another brand? Compare the full specifications, not just the suffix. Your vehicle's year, engine and electrical system determine the correct battery. This Gold model is a conventional starting battery, not an EFB/AGM stop-start or deep-cycle replacement.

View the SSB vehicle fitment guide (PDF). The guide is a reference; confirm your exact vehicle requirements.

Ordering, delivery & fitting

This product is the SS36 SSB Gold battery. Select the quantity you need above. Installation is quoted separately and is not included in the battery price.

Options for delivery outside the Sunshine Coast, urgent replacement or old-battery disposal must be confirmed before ordering. We do not operate a traditional retail storefront. Need help with a return or refund? Call us on 0484 851 167 to discuss your options.

Battery care & safe installation

Maintenance-free means no water top-ups. Follow the battery label and your vehicle's instructions for safe handling, charging and installation. Keep the battery secure and terminals in good condition, and use a charger suitable for this 12V calcium-calcium battery.

Some vehicles require memory preservation or other specific replacement procedures. If you are unsure, ask about professional fitting. Keep batteries upright, work in a well-ventilated area away from sparks, and use an appropriate battery recycling service for the old unit.

Manufacturer warranty & support

SSB Automotive Gold warranty periods depend on use:

  • Private starting use: 36 months.
  • Commercial starting use: 12 months.
  • Taxi use: 6 months.

SSB provides an equivalent replacement for qualifying manufacturing faults within the applicable period, after assessment and with proof of purchase. Manufacturer cover is for the original end user; transport to and from SSB testing centres is at the customer's cost. Replacement does not restart the original warranty.

Exclusions include incorrect application, flat batteries, normal wear, physical damage and incorrect charging. Your Australian Consumer Law rights apply in addition to the manufacturer warranty and are not limited by these terms.

Read SSB's full warranty conditions.

Do I Need a Standard or Stop-Start Battery?

Many modern vehicles use Stop-Start technology, where the engine automatically switches off when you stop at traffic lights to save fuel and reduce emissions. These vehicles require a Stop-Start compatible battery, typically from the EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) range.

  • Your engine automatically turns off at traffic lights
  • You see an A with a circular arrow symbol on your dashboard
  • Your vehicle handbook mentions Stop-Start technology
  • Your current battery is labelled EFB or AGM

If your vehicle has Stop-Start, you should replace the battery with an EFB or AGM battery. Installing a standard battery can lead to poor performance and reduced battery life. Not sure? Contact us via LIVE CHAT and we’ll help confirm the correct battery for your vehicle.
