What is SSB iSTART?

  • Designed for repeated cycling. Stop-start vehicles automatically stop and restart the engine, while electrical equipment still needs power. EFB technology is designed for these repeated cycling demands where specified by the vehicle maker.
  • EFB and AGM are different technologies. iSTART includes both. This EFB66T is an Enhanced Flooded Battery with liquid electrolyte. It is not an AGM battery, which holds electrolyte in glass-fibre mats.
  • Match the required technology. Do not use EFB to replace a vehicle-specified AGM battery. Replace EFB with the specified EFB, or use AGM only where approved for your vehicle and charging system.

Will the EFB66T fit my vehicle?

Match the 278 × 175 × 190mm case and 190mm total height, standard SAE terminals, assembly 0 layout, hold-down and vent connection to your vehicle. Check the actual positive/negative positions and required CCA/Ah. The T and non-T versions have different heights; do not treat their battery codes as interchangeable.

Not a replacement for a vehicle-specified AGM battery. Confirm that EFB is the correct technology for your exact vehicle. A hybrid badge alone does not establish suitability; some vehicles require a different 12V auxiliary battery. Send us your rego and state before ordering if you need help.

Battery care & safe installation

Maintenance-free means no water top-ups. Follow the battery label and vehicle instructions, use a charger suitable for this 12V EFB battery, and keep the battery secure and terminals in good condition. Keep this flooded battery upright. Work in a well-ventilated area away from sparks and recycle the old battery appropriately.

Some vehicles require battery registration, coding or a battery-management-system reset after replacement. Others have different replacement procedures. Ask a qualified technician to check your vehicle's requirements before fitting.

Manufacturer warranty & support

SSB's iSTART EFB manufacturer warranty depends on how the battery is used:

  • Private stop-start use: 24 months.
  • Private starting in cars without stop-start: 24 months.
  • Commercial starting / stop-start and taxi use: 12 months.

Other applications have different periods. Warranty eligibility does not establish suitability for a particular vehicle or installation.

Qualifying manufacturing faults are assessed with proof of purchase. Cover applies to the original end user; transport to and from SSB testing centres is at the customer's cost. Replacement does not restart the original warranty.

Exclusions include incorrect application, flat batteries, normal wear, physical damage and incorrect charging. Your Australian Consumer Law rights apply in addition to the manufacturer warranty.

Do I Need a Standard or Stop-Start Battery?

Many modern vehicles use Stop-Start technology, where the engine automatically switches off when you stop at traffic lights to save fuel and reduce emissions. These vehicles require a Stop-Start compatible battery, typically from the EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) range.

  • Your engine automatically turns off at traffic lights
  • You see an A with a circular arrow symbol on your dashboard
  • Your vehicle handbook mentions Stop-Start technology
  • Your current battery is labelled EFB or AGM
